What’s the cheapest car you can get with an LSD?
Because I really, really, really, want a car with an LSD (Preferably RWD too.) It seems like they’re almost rare, even among sports cars.
I’m thinking my best bet would be an older Mustang or Camaro since LSD’s have always been a fairly common option on them, right?

Infiniti G20 had LSD right?

Apparently the upper trim levels did. I’ll look into it.

My Raider has an LSD, it was $1200...

But Feds!

This might actually be the correct answer, although it’s tricky to actually find one - on many years, it was an option independent of the trim level.

Huh, I never knew the Miata came with a LSD stock.

I can imagine a pretty cool car on LSD...

Crown Vic (edit: police, duh) with trac-lok

Depends on the trim/package. There’s a ton of info out there on them.

Some old pick ‘em up trucks had limited slips.

It’s actually pretty aggressive, just turning sharply at low speed makes the inner wheel scrub a bit. I imagine it’ll skid on loose surfaces, but it’s tall enough that I’m not sure I want to try

Special editions aways had LSDs as far as I know. It was standard on the 01 I drive.

Be careful, the FWD SR20s had a weak spot on the trans case that was prone to breaking (at least on Sentra SE-Rs, if memory isn’t failing me).

In the US? Miata is always the answer.
There’s probably other even less expensive options in the JDM or Euro markets though.

Pretty sure my 740 has a lsd

any GM truck you can check for RPO code G80. Find the RPO codes inside the glovebox find G80 and you have a lsd or a locking rear. There are several type of G80 rears ranging from a clutch based limited slip diffs or older true mechanical locking rears. Never do a burnout on a clutch based g80, it will blow up.

Older Mustangs are good candidates, but you have to stay away from the V6 models to get Trac-Lok (unless you happen to find one that’s been swapped).

I believe that some P71s came with an lsd. I imagine you could find one of those pretty cheap

Any manual subaru newer than...03? they aren’t good LSD’s, but they are Lsd’s. Older Toyota’s had a torsen unit as an option. (celica ST205, SW11/SW20 mr2, Rav4, etc)

96-99 Infiniti I30 (standard on the I30t, optional on the base I30. It’s “optional” but most I30's do have it. Identified by a tag in the hood. The transmission code will end in a V if it has LSD)
It wasn’t available on the Maxima in the US, only the I30.

90-93 could be had with a viscous LSD, and 94+ with a Torsen LSD. It always came on the r/sport brake/suspension package cars and the higher time level cars. It also came on some of the lower trim level cars, depending upon the exact option package.

If you live in Florida like me, you can take advantage of that Craigslist deal where every car comes with free LSD.

I think they were a somewhat common option in Explorers and Rangers. Any Roadmaster or Caprice with the tow package has one too.

Cheapest is probably a Range Rover Classic or 90-91 Audi V8 Quattro, but not RWD.
Cheapest RWD has got to be Mustang.

Trucks are generally the easiest way to a locker/LSD. Any Chevy with the Z71 package has a locker. RPO code G80 is what you’re looking for.
S10s/Sonomas used the same rear diff as Camaros/Firebirds. My S10 didn’t have a locker but it was as base as they came save the 4.3. I was gonna swap one in from a friend’s Camaro parts car before I traded it in, basically a direct bolt in.

1999 Dakota RT has LSD, those can be had cheap

Depends on how much LSD you have in trade, I suppose...

(93-97) LT1 4th gen Camaro/Firebirds are very cheap these days. V8/6-speed manual/RWD with limited slip diff

Yep. I bought my 1990 for $600 and it had the viscous lsd... although its probably acting like an open diff by now
